Medication management involves much more than prescribing medication. The process begins by understanding your symptoms, health history, existing medications, treatment goals, and other factors that may influence whether psychiatric medication is appropriate.
When medication is part of your treatment plan, follow-up appointments allow your provider to evaluate whether symptoms are improving, discuss possible side effects, review concerns, and determine whether medication or dosage adjustments may be appropriate.
Not every patient or mental health condition requires the same treatment approach. Medication management is intended to help determine whether medication is appropriate and, when it is prescribed, whether it continues to provide meaningful benefit as part of your overall mental health care.
